Parent Guide
A simple overview of how Levels 1–4 work, how live lessons run, and how parents can get support.
Our maths programme is designed to take a child from strong foundations all the way to GCSE level, at a pace that suits their ability, confidence, and availability.
Some students complete all four levels in under a year, others take two to three years (or longer). Progress depends on the child — not their age.
The programme is linear and structured — each topic builds directly on the previous one. Nothing is skipped, and students aren’t dropped into a topic without preparation.
Level 1 focuses on old-fashioned arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, multiples, factors, and number sense. Many older children struggle later because this stage was rushed or missed.
For younger children, we prioritise confidence — rushing can damage confidence and slow long-term progress.
Live lessons are there to keep students engaged, build a relationship, and help everyone stay aligned with the programme. They support the learning — they don’t replace independent study.
Students progress fastest when they regularly watch recorded lessons and complete practice questions. Even an extra 45–60 minutes per week makes a big difference.
Discord is optional — parents decide whether their child uses it.
Please note: we don’t send automatic progress reports.
We prioritise confidence, understanding, mental maths, and problem-solving. Pressure and rushing can create anxiety and slow progress.
